Valorant fans have long awaited updates for Yoru, one of the game's underutilized duelists among its roster of agents. Speculation about reworking this agent—the weakest in a field of 17—has been rife, and Riot developers have now shared key insights into upcoming changes.
This article dives into the anticipated Yoru rework set to enhance the agent in Valorant, drawing directly from Riot's official statements.

Multiple nerfs since Yoru's launch have diminished his standing, leaving him with just an 8.9% pick rate among pro players in tournaments—surprising for a duelist boasting self-deployed flashes and teleportation. Riot has addressed this to restore balance and bolster duelists' core value.
"We've learned that in addition to our Duelists needing to offer something unique on the field, they also need to have a solid base value that any team at any turn can rely on in order to maintain a strong viability in any team composition," Riot explained.
"It's really interesting that people are excited about Yoru, but as people experimented with it, many of you came to the conclusion that its results didn't measure up to the rest of the list. We took the time to really look at everything that should be offered and give it more different tools to bring to life an effective version of the fantasies we all clung to before entering the shifts."
Valorant's fifth duelist has remained a niche choice since release, both casually and competitively.

“Hi everyone, I want to talk about the Yoru changes we were hoping to get by 3.02. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the team is going to have to delay Yoru updates indefinitely,” the devs noted earlier.
Feedback from top players has shaped Riot's vision: Yoru as a master of deception, generating more misdirection each round. Expect a revamped duelist by next year.
