Can't fully cut the cord? Cable shaving—using your existing pay TV subscription alongside streaming services—is a smart alternative gaining popularity among traditional viewers.
However, repeatedly entering your pay TV credentials across multiple apps can be tedious and frustrating. Luckily, Amazon Fire TV offers a better way.
Introducing Single Sign-On for Fire TV.
Amazon launched Single Sign-On in September 2017, initially for a limited audience. It rolled out nationwide in the US in late January 2018.
This feature securely stores your pay TV username and password on your Fire TV device, automatically authenticating you in supported TV Everywhere apps. Popular networks like A&E, AMC, HGTV, CNN, Syfy, Bravo, Telemundo, Cooking Channel, TNT, and BBC are included.
It works with any cable provider supporting single sign-on via Adobe Experience Cloud, including Spectrum, DirecTV, Dish, Optimum, and Verizon.
Comcast Xfinity is notably absent, though Amazon is actively expanding partnerships.
Single Sign-On isn't unique to Fire TV—Apple TV and Roku have offered it for some time—but it's a game-changer for Amazon users.
It's available on Fire TV, Fire TV Stick, and Fire TV Edition devices.
