How to Enable Mouse Support on Your Amazon Fire TV Stick When the Remote Isn't Enough

Amazon Fire TV Sticks deliver exceptional streaming for movies and TV shows on any television, holding their own against Roku and Chromecast thanks to unbeatable features and value.

One standout capability is sideloading apps, letting you access options beyond the native Amazon Appstore—including those from sources like the Google Play Store.

However, many sideloaded apps aren't optimized for TV interfaces, relying on touch navigation that remotes can't handle effectively. The fix? Enable a built-in mouse pointer for precise control.

To get started, install this third-party mouse app via the Downloader tool:

  1. Enable ADB debugging: Settings > Device > Developer options > ADB debugging.
  2. Allow apps from unknown sources: Settings > Device > Developer options.
  3. Install the Downloader app from the Amazon Appstore.
  4. In Downloader, go to Settings > Enable JavaScript and check the box.
  5. Back on the home screen, enter https://tinyurl.com/firetvmouse.
  6. Once downloaded, tap Install.

Your Fire TV Stick now features a permanent mouse pointer. Toggle it on or off by double-tapping the Play button on your remote. Note: It works only inside apps, not on the home screen.
