Spotify is experimenting with shareable podcast quote cards designed for social media. These visually appealing cards feature direct quotes from episodes you're streaming, complete with a link back to the podcast on Spotify to drive listens. The test kicks off with The Michelle Obama Podcast, an original series exclusive to the platform.
This feature is currently limited to select users. If you're part of the test group, you'll spot the quote cards while playing the first episode of The Michelle Obama Podcast.
Each card displays a precise quote from the episode, including a timestamp for easy reference. Tap the quote you want to share, and options appear for major platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and Snapchat.

Your followers will see the eye-catching card, sparking conversations while directing them straight to the episode. This clever design boosts engagement and podcast plays.
Spotify hasn't confirmed a wider rollout. In a statement to Engadget, a spokesperson noted: "We regularly carry out a number of tests with the aim of improving our user experience. Some of these tests end up paving the way for our broader user experience and others are just for important learning."
Spotify has poured significant resources into podcasts, securing high-profile deals like Joe Rogan and launching originals such as The Michelle Obama Podcast featuring Michelle and Barack Obama. The challenge? Converting investment into massive listener numbers.
Shareable quote cards turn users into promoters, leveraging social sharing to amplify reach—perfect for episodes packed with insightful commentary.
Beyond quote cards, Spotify now supports video podcasts, letting you watch and listen to select shows directly in the app. While availability is limited for now, expect more titles soon.
