The Netflix hit Atypical is back for its fourth and final season, and the release date is here! Dive into everything you need to know about this heartfelt comedy-drama.

Created and written by Robia Rashid, with co-producers Mary Rohlich and Seth Gordon, Atypical centers on Sam Gardner (Keir Gilchrist), an 18-year-old on the autism spectrum embarking on a quest for love and independence. His journey of self-discovery is both funny and poignant, forcing his family to adapt and question: what is normal? The series portrays autism with authenticity, avoiding clichés.
Showrunner Robia Rashid has emphasized the input from autistic individuals: "Atypical is better—richer and deeper, funnier and more real—thanks to the involvement of people with disabilities in front of and behind the camera."
The series returns to Netflix this summer for its fourth and final season. Following Season 3 in 2019, Season 4 premieres Friday, July 9th on Netflix. Netflix has shared first-look images from the finale.

Expect plenty of humor. Rashid told Bustle: "In Season 4, our autistic actors really shine. They are hilarious. I really hope they get the attention they deserve." With 10 episodes, it's perfect for summer viewing. Originally slated for 2020, the pandemic delayed it—we're grateful it's here now.
