Fans have spotted striking similarities between Neon and League of Legends' champion Zeri, including the same voice actress, Vanille Velasquez.
The Valorant and League of Legends teams collaborated closely on Neon's design, leading to their visual and thematic parallels—though no official in-universe connection has been confirmed.
Ryan “rycou” Cousart, Valorant Game Designer at Riot Games, shared how the concept originated from League of Legends lead champion designer August Browning, who proposed a fast-sprinting agent. League of Legends Game Designer Jay Watford refined the idea before the Valorant team finalized it.
“I remember when August Browning originally came to us with this idea of having an agent who could sprint quickly on a base ability—I had many reasons why I thought it would be an insurmountable amount of work to achieve this,” Ryan explained. “The goal we aligned ourselves with for Neon was that she would move fast and her utility should complement.”
Reflecting on the collaboration, Ryan added: “After seeing how far it had gone with Jay Watford and August before jumping to take him to the finish line, I was so excited to see how well we had achieved the goal of having capabilities that go well with the speed that left the prototype phase with virtually the same kit!”
Neon promises to shake up Valorant's meta, long dominated by Jett. The community eagerly awaits her release to test this electrifying duelist in action.
