Paras Singh, known online as 'Paras Official,' sparked outrage with a video reacting to calls for a Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) ban. He allegedly referred to Arunachal Pradesh MP Ninong Ering as non-Indian, claiming the MP "looks Chinese" and that Arunachal Pradesh is part of China. Punjab Police arrested him on Tuesday following widespread backlash.
Former Union Minister and current Arunachal Pradesh MP Ninong Ering urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ban BGMI, PUBG Mobile's Indian successor, citing threats to national privacy and security as "Chinese deception." Despite not yet being released, the game has drawn political scrutiny.

In his video, Paras questioned Ering's Indian identity, stating, "Mujhe to nahi lagta yeh (Mr Ering) Indian hai," and pointed to a map, adding, "Arre yaar yeh (Arunachal) in China ki side me hai. Yeh China walon ka hi hai…ek tarah se unhi k saath hi hai."

Ludhiana-based Paras faced charges for inciting hatred against Northeastern communities. Punjab DGP RP Upadhyaya confirmed a case was registered, with Itanagar cybercrime branch investigating. After issuing apologies—supported by his mother—Paras defiantly remarked, "I apologized, should I hang myself now?"
