Tragic incidents, including teen suicides linked to PUBG frustrations, have surfaced globally. In this case, the boy escaped after his extravagant spending spree on in-game purchases.

According to The Tribune, the 16-year-old ran away from his Mumbai home after his parents scolded him for unauthorized transactions totaling ₹10 lakh used to fund PUBG Mobile play. He was later located and reunited with his family.

The parents noted their son's PUBG addiction began last month. He accessed his mother's bank account, withdrawing ₹10 lakh to purchase in-game currency for outfits and accessories.

PUBG Mobile faced a nationwide ban in India in September 2020 under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, primarily due to data privacy concerns. While Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) serves as its local counterpart, some teens still seek the original.
