Asterix and Obelix, accompanied by their dog Dogmatix will return on October 21 in the opus "Asterix and the Griffon", signed once again by screenwriter Jean-Yves Ferri and designer Didier Conrad. The cover of the comic strip was unveiled this Monday, October 11 during a press conference.

For this fourth production by the duo, the most famous of the Gauls and his chubby friend will embark on a quest to the East. Ukraine, Mongolia, Russia… the two friends will cover a vast territory as Cnews reports.

Tundra and snow will have to be part of the adventure in search of the Sarmatians, an unknown people of antiquity. "Not much is known about them so I had a lot of freedom (...) Mostly I had to imagine the way the Sarmatians lived " confirms Jean-Yves Ferri?

Griffin and new characters

Readers will be keen to discover the reason for this title, which comes from a mythical animal, which would have the body of a lion and the head of a raptor. It would simply be the emblem of the Sarmatians. This is "their totem animal ".

In terms of characters, the two creators obviously played with current trends. A certain "Chloroquine" should make its appearance. On the Roman side, you can discover the characters of Dansonjus or Terinconus, which would be a pastiche of the writer Michel Houellebecq.
