Dexter: New Blood Revival - Everything We Know About the Iconic Serial Killer s Return

Eight years after the finale of Dexter Season 8, fans can rejoice: the Showtime hit is back. This gripping series captivated millions from 2006 to 2013 with its 96 episodes following Dexter Morgan, a Miami police forensics expert who satisfies his dark urges by targeting criminals who evade justice. In the series finale, Dexter appeared to perish in a hurricane at sea, but he survived and now lives a quieter life. Here's everything confirmed about Dexter: New Blood.

10 Years After the Finale

Dexter: New Blood picks up a decade after Season 8. Thought dead by the world, Dexter has resettled in the fictional town of Iron Lake, New York, under the alias Jim Lindsay. He now works at a local sporting goods store, selling fishing gear, and appears to have suppressed his killer instincts. That changes when danger threatens the town...

Returning and New Cast Members

Michael C. Hall reprises his role as the complex anti-hero Dexter Morgan. Jennifer Carpenter returns as Debra Morgan, Dexter's late adoptive sister, likely appearing as a manifestation of his conscience, similar to past seasons.

John Lithgow reprises Arthur Mitchell, Dexter's nemesis from earlier seasons. Harrison Morgan, Dexter's son, is now a teenager played by Jack Alcott (previously Jadon Wells as the child). Their father-son dynamic will be central.

New faces include:

  • Julia Jones (The Mandalorian) as Angela Bishop
  • Alano Miller (For Life) as Logan
  • Johnny Sequoyah (Believe) as Audrey

Dexter's past romance with Hannah McKay is over. As Jim Lindsay, he's now involved with Iron Lake Chief of Police Angela Bishop, fueling a new love story.

Not Season 9 - A Standalone Miniseries

This revival features 10 episodes unfolding over two weeks. Original showrunner Clyde Phillips (Seasons 1-4) returns. Importantly, it's billed as a miniseries or reboot, not Season 9, allowing a fresh narrative.

The premiere airs on Showtime November 7. French audiences can expect a swift release soon after.

Potential Spin-Off on the Horizon?

Showtime's Gary Levine describes Dexter: New Blood as a limited special series and "a fitting end to a brilliant series." Yet, spin-off talks are heating up. Levine told Deadline they're exploring extensions, but strong viewership will be key to any future projects.
