Activision Permanently Bans Over 60,000 Cheaters in Call of Duty: Warzone s Third Anti-Cheat Wave

Call of Duty: Warzone developers at Activision have permanently banned more than 60,000 accounts in the game's third major anti-cheat enforcement wave. This follows over 70,000 bans across the first two phases, with Vice reporting that these latest actions are final and non-reversible.

Pro gamer Vikkstar123 took to Twitter to call Warzone's current state the "worst possible," citing rampant hackers and cheaters as the reason for his departure from the game.

Bans focused on users of the EngineOwning cheat suite. Cheat makers responded on their site: "We are working to update the cheat."

That said, some on the official EngineOwning Discord—mostly account owners—have raised concerns over unrelated bans. Prohibited tools include aimbots, wallhacks, trainers, stat hacks, texture hacks, ranking hacks, injectors, and hex editors.

Call of Duty: Warzone is a free-to-play battle royale shooter launched March 10, 2020, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It's tied to the 2019 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and debuted in Season 2.
