Where do you pick your fashion cues from?

Where do you get your news from?

Who is your favorite celebrity?

Does watching a moving movie make you cry rivers?

Answer honestly and see if your answers come up on TV or in the movies. You might think "well, I'm connected to my celebrity idol via Instagram/Twitter", or "I get my CNN updates via email", but go back a bit and see if the roots of your influence correspond to television or cinema. I'm sure most of you are in awe right now, realizing that the media influences you tremendously, and all the time too. Nevertheless, let's take charge here. If we have given the mass media such power over ourselves, we should use it in the right way. What we can't repeat all the time – can very well be conveyed to audiences through the power of movies and shows. Feminism, racism, gender equality, gender fluidity, political oppression, gun control and composting are just a few of the topics that our media industry has begun to include in the modern content and we are proud of it. We need people to begin to understand that the old views were wrong and demeaning; and that we need new breaths of inclusion, love and acceptance in society.

This article is written to light a wire in your brain to understand girl power in its true meaning. We've put together a list of TV shows and movies on Netflix that feature strong female characters. Netflix is as awesome as any streaming service should be, however, it alone cannot cater for all genres of television. Therefore, if you're like me, you'd also want a cable TV on the side. For me, Optimal TV worked very well; With over 220 channels and free DVR storage, my entertainment section is all made up.

Please note that the TV shows and movies listed below are in no specific order.
