CBS All Access, ViacomCBS's established video-on-demand and live streaming service, will rebrand as Paramount+ in early 2021. The platform will expand internationally and introduce exciting new original series.
Launched in 2014—early in the streaming era compared to rivals—CBS All Access boasts around eight million subscribers. Following the 2019 merger of CBS and Viacom (previously separated in 2006), ViacomCBS announced the rebrand to Paramount+ for early 2021.
The service will launch in Australia, Latin America, and the Nordics, with further global rollout planned. The new name highlights its broadened content slate. ViacomCBS President and CEO Bob Bakish emphasized this evolution in a press release.
CBS All Access's ad-supported tier starts at $5.99 monthly; pricing for Paramount+ remains unconfirmed.
All existing CBS All Access movies and shows carry over, joined by fresh originals like a behind-the-scenes The Godfather series, a gripping spy drama, and a true crime docuseries.
Nickelodeon content includes a new SpongeBob SquarePants series and movie. Overall, Paramount+ will feature over 30,000 episodes and films from brands like BET, Comedy Central, and MTV.
With streaming options proliferating, success hinges on competitive pricing and standout content. As Netflix faces growing competition, Paramount+ is positioned to capture market share with its diverse, high-profile lineup.
