Twitch Sings Karaoke Game Shuts Down January 1, 2021: What Streamers Need to Know

Twitch Sings, the innovative karaoke game tailored for Twitch streamers, is set to close permanently on January 1, 2021.

This dedicated platform has built a loyal following among streamers and viewers, many of whom will be saddened by the news.

What is Twitch Sings?

Launched in April 2019, Twitch Sings is a free karaoke game developed by Harmonix, the experts behind the iconic Rock Band series. It enables streamers to perform live with their audience, drawing from a vast song library.

Options include streaming your own performance or using a customizable avatar on stage before a virtual crowd, complete with diverse backdrop scenes.

Interactive features shine here: duet with viewers, tackle playful challenges like singing with your tongue out, and earn ratings for fun feedback. No vocal prowess needed—imperfect singers often steal the show.

When Does Twitch Sings End?

Twitch will shut down Twitch Sings on January 1, 2021. The official Twitch Sings Help Page explains: "It's been less than a year and a half since the launch of Twitch Sings, so the shutdown comes as a surprise. However, we can assume that the game did not perform as well as Twitch expected."

In farewell, Twitch is adding 400 new songs from its catalog. All VODs, clips, and highlights will be deleted starting December 1, 2020.

Streamers can keep using it until the final shutdown on January 1, 2021.

Twitch's Ongoing Commitment to Music

While Twitch Sings ends, Twitch isn't abandoning music. Recent announcements include live music festivals, with more features and events on the horizon.
