Fortnite Competitive has detailed the Lightning Cups tournament via a series of tweets. Starting next week, the game will host two events: the first on March 15e and the second on March 17e.
Unlike traditional tournaments, the Lightning Cups won't feature a prize pool at launch. Epic Games appears to be testing this exciting new mode.
Meanwhile, all scheduled tournaments for Chapter 3, Season 2 will proceed as planned.

The Lightning Cups introduce fresh formats: "Best Of" and "High Score." These emphasize eliminations, as outlined in Fortnite Competitive's Twitter breakdown.

"Best Of" - Your top five scores from seven matches determine your leaderboard position.
"High Score" - Only your single best match within the last two hours counts toward the leaderboard.
To climb the ranks, teams need a Victory Royale plus high elimination counts. Expect intense, demanding matches that test top players' skills.
