The community is calling on Riot to buff Cypher in Episode 4, Act 2, a patch focused on agent and system balance changes.
Aside from past Spycam issues, Riot may already hold the key to a compelling redesign: Cypher's original beta kit.
Cypher's Trapwires, Cyber Cage, and Spycam let him monitor vast map areas as a vigilant sentry. While effective, many players argue these tools now fall short compared to rival sentinels.
Reddit user 'CheeseCakeYee' sparked enthusiasm by proposing a return to Cypher's beta abilities, earning strong community backing.
'Cypher was considerably better in the beta,' they noted. 'Bringing that version to today's meta would elevate him without making him overpowered.'
In beta, Cypher's Cyber Cage slowed intruders, and Trapwires persisted to guard flanks even after death—effects later nerfed, with traps deactivating upon respawn. His Neural Theft ultimate could also use quality-of-life improvements for better round impact.
