The PUBG Mobile Rivals Cup marked the first international showdown between top Japanese and Korean teams, organized by Tencent. Despite its brief format, professional squads from both nations pushed hard, knowing it was their final shot at qualifying for the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2021.

The event featured 16 teams that finished 2nd through 9th in the PUBG Mobile Japan League Season 1 and PUBG Mobile Pro Series Korea. Initially, winners REJECT and Hidden earned PMGC spots, but Hidden was later disqualified, with Warrior Esports stepping in.
