Fortnite has a knack for surprising its community, but this time it was an unintended glitch. Recently, the game accidentally distributed the ultra-rare Champions Axe—a coveted epic harvesting tool—to numerous qualified Grand Royale players. The excitement was short-lived, as developers swiftly revoked the items to restore exclusivity.
The Champions Axe stands out as one of Fortnite Battle Royale's rarest cosmetics. Available only to the top 21 players— the winning trios from each of Fortnite's seven competitive regions—this pickaxe features the Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) logo wrapped in a regal crown design.
Introduced last year as a reward for FNCS victors, the premier tournament in competitive Fortnite, the axe transfers to new regional champions each season. To claim it legitimately, teams must dominate their region's Grand Finals.

In a rare mishap, the axe was erroneously granted to all Grand Royale qualifiers—a far larger group than intended. Fortnite Competitive issued a prompt official statement: "Oops. We will be revoking the Champions Axe from all Grand Royale qualified players and returning it only to FNCS Seasonal Winners starting this year until the end of Grand Royale. So, the only possible way to get this harvesting tool is to win the FNCS."
This incident underscores the axe’s prestige; it demands reaching the Champions League in Arena mode, making it Fortnite's most challenging cosmetic to earn. Aspiring pros, keep grinding—the real path to glory awaits.
