How to Buy Movie Tickets Hands-Free with Google Assistant: Step-by-Step Guide

Fandango is one of the top apps for checking movie showtimes on Android phones and tablets. Now, a new Google Assistant feature makes buying tickets even easier—using just your voice on Assistant-enabled devices like phones and Google Home.

Follow these proven steps we've tested ourselves to purchase tickets seamlessly:

  1. Say, “Hey Google, buy me tickets to [movie title].”
  2. Google Assistant displays showtimes at nearby theaters.
  3. Say “Buy [time and movie] tickets” or tap to select.
  4. Confirm details, choosing options like 1 adult, 2 adults, or 1 adult and 1 child.
  5. Review the order summary, including total cost.
  6. Say or tap “Place order,” then scan your fingerprint to complete.

Before step 4, Assistant checks your calendar for conflicts and confirms if the theater offers reserved seats. Purchases started on Google Home must be finalized on your phone.

This feature is rolling out to Android users. If unavailable, after step 3, it recommends Fandango (opens if installed), MovieTickets.com, Atom Tickets, or the theater's site.
