Anis Maknojia: Actor, Producer, and Influencer Turning Pandemic Challenges into Creative Wins

Anis Maknojia has built an impressive portfolio of short films, including the dramatic Artifice, the unconventional comedy With Interest, and the multi-layered Breathe. She is currently in post-production on her fourth short, Jack, A Slasher Horror Story.

Earlier this year, amid COVID-19 business demands, Maknojia returned to Texas and seized the moment to collaborate with director Frederick Tabiyus Nah IV on the screenplay.

"The idea had been simmering for a while, but other projects kept pushing it aside," Maknojia shared. "The pandemic's slower pace gave me the focus I needed. My Houston trip consumed time, yet it cleared space for creativity. It's fascinating how it all aligned."

After handing the draft to writer Joseph Carlin—recommended by Nah IV—Maknojia headed to Los Angeles to maintain momentum.

In Jack, Maknojia brings to life Bruce, an executive at a surging tech firm eyeing an IPO. Viewers follow his high-stakes day: prepping product launches, securing valuations, surrounded by luxury—from his opulent home shared with sharp, alluring fiancée Liz to the lavish boardroom. As the deal closes, Bruce's keen instincts shine.

"This project ranks among my most rewarding," Maknojia reflected. "We faced tough conditions—PPE everywhere, twice-daily COVID testing for cast and crew—yet everyone delivered exceptionally. Now, we're in editing, sound design, and final polish."

"Stepping away from LA was hard," she added. "I felt disconnected from my creative spark. Ultimately, it was the thrill of filmmaking that reignited it."
