Twitch Watch Parties Now Open to Everyone Worldwide: Host Movies and Shows with Viewers

Twitch Watch Parties, once limited to select users, are now available to all streamers globally.

This feature lets creators stream movies and TV shows from the Amazon Prime Video library, enabling real-time reactions and discussions with viewers.

What Are Twitch Watch Parties?

Watch Parties empower Twitch creators to broadcast Prime Video content directly in their streams. The video player takes center stage, with the streamer's webcam positioned on the right side. Viewers engage via chat, bits, and subscriptions as usual.

This isn't entirely new—Amazon offers its own Prime Video Watch Party, and Hulu has a similar feature. However, Twitch's massive audiences, often in the tens of thousands, make it a powerful platform for showcasing Prime content.

How to Host or Join Twitch Watch Parties

Launched in October 2019 for beta testers and later U.S. users, Watch Parties are now accessible worldwide on Twitch.

Requirements include an active Amazon Prime or Prime Video subscription. Content availability varies by region, so you may not join streams featuring region-locked titles.

Currently desktop-only, mobile support is in development and expected soon.

Will Watch Parties Stick Around?

Especially amid the ongoing pandemic, virtual watch parties foster community viewing from home. Twitch maximizes this with seamless integration.
