How to Change Your Valorant Name: Step-by-Step Riot ID Guide

Valorant players take pride in their in-game names as a key part of their identity. Whether you're refreshing your style with unique characters, boosting security, or just evolving your persona, changing it is simple through your Riot ID. This update applies specifically to Valorant without impacting other Riot titles like League of Legends. Follow these proven steps from official Riot processes.

Method 1: Update Your Riot ID

Head to the Riot Games website and navigate to the Valorant section. Click "Play for Free" to log in. You'll see your Riot ID in the upper-right corner. Enter your password, then input the verification code sent to your email.

Once logged in, access the Riot Account Management page (look for the account settings link). Verify again with your password and email code. In the Riot ID tab, update your ID and tagline. Note: Changes are limited to once every 30 days. Your new name will appear in the top-left of the Valorant launcher.

Method 2: Contact Riot Support

If Method 1 doesn't work, from the account management page, select Support at the top to reach Riot's help center. Choose Valorant, then scroll to "Can't find what you're looking for?" and submit a ticket.

Select "Account management, data requests or deletion" from the request type dropdown. Under "I need help with," pick "Something else"—this reveals the Riot ID change option, but instead, describe your request in the fields. Add a clear subject, explain the issue, choose your language, and submit. Riot will respond via email.
