How to Use Tents in Fortnite

Tents are rare miscellaneous items in Fortnite Battle Royale, debuting in Chapter 3 Season 1. You'll find them as static 'Abandoned Tents' on the map or as equippable items, especially in wasteland areas.

Deploying a tent unlocks multiple benefits: quick health recovery for you and your squad during firefights, plus secure storage for weapons and ammo across matches.

You can't access another player's active tent, but if its owner is eliminated, anyone can claim it for free—or trade by dropping it. Transactions with bars are optional; dropping is always free.

Throw a tent onto a suitable surface to deploy it. Once active, options include:

  • Enter for Healing: Climb inside to regain 5 HP per second until full or the tent is destroyed (it takes 5 damage per second in the Storm).
  • Item Storage: Store two items of any rarity for free; add a third for 100 bars.
  • Store the Tent: Pick it up as an item to restore it to full HP.

Beyond healing, tents hold up to three items per match—and storage persists beyond a single game. Nest a tent inside another to store up to five items total, amplifying your inventory management. With near-limitless healing potential (if protected), tents are game-changers, though vulnerable to destruction.

Note: Holding crouch while sprinting triggers a slide for faster downhill movement.
