If you want to download movies or shows to watch on the go, on the road, or just when you're out of range of a Wi-Fi signal, you'll need to use an app on the following platforms:

iOS 9.0 or later (phone or tablet)
Android 4.4.2 or later (phone or tablet)
Windows 10 version 1607 or later (tablet or PC)

If you watch Netflix on your TV or in a browser, this method will not work for you.

How to download movies and TV shows on Netflix

Launch Netflix on one of the platforms listed above.
Tap the hamburger menu button and go to Available for download .
If you choose to download a TV show, you will see a download button next to each episode. If you choose to download a movie or documentary, you'll see a download button below the red Play button.
Once you tap the download button, you can see the download progress at the bottom of the screen.
To see your downloads, tap the hamburger menu button and tap My downloads .
To remove a download, go to My Downloads, touch the episode or movie you want to remove. When it opens, tap Edit , and then tap the red X button.

You should also be aware that some downloads will expire after a certain amount of time. Some downloads expire 48 hours after you start viewing them. Other downloads may expire before you see them, but the app will start warning you once you have less than seven days to view it.

And of course, anything you download will take up bandwidth when you download and take up storage space on your device.
